Charter has been announced about this during the visit of Lukashenka’s emissary Miasnikovich to Poland.
Today, on February 14, Editor-in-Chief of the website Charter97.org Natallia Radzina was invited to the Polish Fund of International Solidarity. President and Director of the Fund Maciej Falkowski and Aliaksandra Yarashevich informed the journalist that financial support to the website in 2019 would be reduced almost five-fold in comparison with last year.
“Such sharp decrease of support to the website in fact means its destruction. Poland helped us after the editor’s office was battered in Belarus, our founder Aleh Biabenin was murdered, the journalists were arrested and I got to the KGB prison. In 2011, the editor’s office was invited to work in Warsaw by Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and throughout all these years the main support was rendered through the Fund of International Solidarity. Today, they demonstratively deprived us of financing on the day of arrival of Mikhail Miasnikovich, the head of the illegitimate Belarusian “parliament”. We are aware that the official Minsk has long demanded that the Polish authorities should stop financing Charter’97.
For the last several months, we could work only thanks to the support of our readers. We will continue working whatever it takes. We hope for the solidarity of journalists and for the support of our audience.
For your and our freedom!” Natallia Radzina said.
The press-conference of Editor-in-Chief of the website Charter97.org Natallia Radzina will take place at 12 a.m. tomorrow, on February 15, at Press Club Polska (Aleje Ujazdowskie 6A) in Warsaw.
