A new law may be passed in Russia because of his statement.
The Children's Ombudsman of Tatarstan has appealed to Anna Kuznetsova, Deputy Speaker of the Russian State Duma, with a demand to draft a bill banning the propaganda of divorce and singleton - family singlehood. This is not the first such initiative - it has already been proposed to fine for public unwillingness to start a family by Sultan Khamzaev, a United Russia deputy of the State Duma, writes ‘We Can Explain’.
The first victim of the new trends is singer Dima Bilan, a long-time jury member and mentor in ‘The Voice,’ a top project of Channel One. A week ago, the singer was the guest of honour at the VK Fest festival in Luzhniki. And for the first time in a long time, touched upon his personal life. During a public talk he was asked ‘This is the year of the family. Wouldn't you like to create a new unit of society in such a year?’ He replied that he ‘doesn't plan to start a family yet,’ given his previous negative experiences.
Z-propagandists started accusing the singer of not being patriotic enough - for the first time after the ‘naked party’ that ended for Bilan with a trip to the occupied Donbass. MP Khamzaev also lashed out at Bilan. ‘Yes, he discredits [family values]. We all understand what he means. In this sense, he is a negative demonstrative example,’ the deputy said in an interview with Fontanka.
At the same time, Volodin, the speaker of the Russian State Duma, is a single man himself: according to his published declarations (the last one was in 2022), he has no wife, although he has small children.
